Have you ever been in the company of someone that just wants to "hang out"? Having nothing to say or contribute, they are content with status quo? In our minds, they are the equivalent of the color beige. In other words, they are very boring! When we were searching our souls about our future as image-makers, we made a decision. That decision was a simple one in theory, but a challenging one in practice. We no longer wanted our images to just "Hang Around". We wanted their images to SPEAK!
One of the most important things when creating an image that speaks is to be armed with information about the people you are getting ready to photograph as well as their personality and their relationships. You must deliberately set the stage for this type of imagery. You must begin to think differently to create images that move those who see them. Develop a style that reflects these thoughts and ideas, put your skills to work creating from the heart. You will be amazed at the response! You may find you have just put your finger on what people wanted all along.
Marion's Studio was established over 40 years ago by my parents, Jack and Ginny Marion. I was taught by the best! My Dad passed away a few years ago and I feel blessed that his life is represented on the walls of many homes. That is a tribute to his work and the amazing man he was.
I enjoy photographing high school seniors, it's fun getting to know so many young people and being able to capture their individuality in their portraits. They're all so different; some are quiet and sensitive, while others are bold and crazy! Whatever their thing is, I try to reflect them.
We belong to the prestigous Presidential Circle which is a group that represents the top 15 percent of professional photographers in the nation. Along with our staff, we are constantly changing our focus on props, backgrounds, poses, and products! We make yearly trips to Chicago to seek out unique and trendy props for senior portraits! It is our top priority to listen to our clients for their ideas and input when it comes to children and families!
We are located in Brown City, which is a small town tucked away amongst beautiful fields and woods in the heart of the thumb of Michigan. Some may think we're a bit far off the beaten path, but it hasn't stopped many clients from traveling 2 hours north from Detroit, or 4 hours east from Grand Rapids! They tell us that our studio is like a hidden secret that they just can't help but come back to! We find it a blessing to be in rural Brown City, it makes our outdoor portraits unique, authentic, and stunning!
No better time exists for images that speak of life, love, and family. We as image-makers have a very distinct privilege and yes, maybe even a calling to capture the moments, the people and the events that speak of people's lives and love...
